Vegan Strawberry Milkshake -
Strawberry Nut Mylk Shake

Vegan Strawberry Milkshake
Would you like a delicious vegan strawberry milkshake? We’ll get to the recipe, but read on about the big milk deception going on in schools today. Recently we saw an episode of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution (Jamie rocks!) and he was talking about flavored strawberry milk that is being served in the public school system. We couldn’t believe what we were hearing so I researched it for myself. What I found was horrifying. You can read it for yourself, from the nutritionexplorations.org website.

“With calcium and eight other essential nutrients, flavored milk offers the same great nutrient-rich package as white milk and can help improve overall diets. Kids are in a calcium crisis, with more than half of children ages 2-8 and three-quarters of children ages 9-19 not getting the recommended daily servings of low-fat or fat-free milk or milk products. Flavored milk can help close the gap because children prefer it and will drink more milk when it's flavored.” (Our emphasis)

Maybe these nutrition experts don't know children are really drinking cow pus (find out how much cow pus is in your milk) flavored or not, but one must admit it is questionable where these school nutrition professionals are doing real nutrition exploration! Maybe they went to the Willy Wonka’s school of nutrition. At the very least it seems their minds are being held captive by the dairy industry’s brain washing agenda.

Either way, apparently they are more interested in perpetuating the dairy industry’s lies about milk and nutrition than about the truth. The truth is the nutritional value of the calcium in milk can easily be found in 1 cup of spinach and other greens, not to mention apples, nuts, broccoli and so forth.

So rather than serve children a truly wholesome, meal of high density nutrition that is bursting with genuine flavor, they would rather corrupt their taste buds and give them 4 teaspoons of pure high fructose corn syrup, not to mention a slew of artificial flavorings, colors and excitotoxins, in order to connive children to consume a few mg of calcium that are in each cup of flavored milk. Sure it’s not the 6 teaspoons of sugar in most fruit juices as the school nutrition professionals say to justify feeding this poison to vulnerable young people, but who’s counting.

If you are a parent, ask yourself, why would you want your child to drink milk at all (see Dr. Mercola’s expose on milk) let alone the 4 teaspoons of sugar (HFCS) at lunch just to wash down some calcium and hard to digest protein. The truth is the research is showing there is not much about milk that really and truly does do a body good.

Let’s be really clear, these school nutrition professionals who ever they are, are not at all interested in promoting good health in our children (after all because of the highly processed foods, HFCS being one of the tops, there is a diabetes and obesity epidemic amongst children in our country). Make no mistake about it; this is not about health it’s about greed.

Now that our rant is over, if you are looking for an absolutely delicious, nutritious and completely natural strawberry milk alternative that your kids will love and you can feel completely confident about try this strawberry mylk shake. It’s made with brazil nuts (you could substitute almonds or even cashews). And if you want even more calcium than the nuts, banana and strawberries provide add 1 tablespoon of calcium rich raw tahini.

Vegan Strawberry Milkshake (aka Strawberry Nut Mylk Shake)
