Valerie Bertinelli Weight Loss - How Jenny Craig Made The Difference

Valerie Bertinelli Weight Loss
Many of us remember Valerie Bertinelli as the spunky teenager from One Day at a Time. What we didn’t know was that she had struggled with weight and self-esteem issues since she was fifteen. Her 20-year marriage to rock star Eddie VanHalen had ended in divorce and she had fallen into a pattern of emotional eating. Yo-yo dieting from 98 pounds, to barely squeezing into a size 14, she decided that she’d had enough. When Jenny Craig approached her about being their national spokeswoman, Valerie Bertinelli weight loss began.

Although she was not entirely comfortable with the idea of being in the spotlight, she decided to give it a try. And by all measures, it was a rousing success, but not without issues.

She decided to make this a public journey with the Valerie Bertinelli Jenny Craig partnership to show that just like anyone else, she had several difficulties but worked through them. Most people on the Jenny Craig plan lose one to two pounds per week. She wanted to celebrate those successes and commiserate when she reached a plateau. After a few weeks on the plan, she was joined by some of her friends. They supported and encouraged each other, rewarding themselves with every milestone. Despite the offer to send a Jenny Craig consultant to her home for the weekly meeting with her consultant, she chose to go to her local center, to be involved like everyone else.

The weeks that she had reached a plateau or lost ground by gaining weight instead of losing it, she was depressed. She had vowed that she would never gain the pounds again. Her consultant helped by putting it into perspective. Progress, not perfection, was the goal. No one would be perfect and lose the same amount of weight week after week. It just doesn’t work that way. As she continued to work towards her goals, her resolve was tested. Her son was going on the road with his father for the summer and her beloved pet became gravely ill. Always an emotional eater, she fought the urge to eat.

With the help and support of her friends, boyfriend and consultants, the Valerie Bertinelli weight loss story that began with 25 pounds, continued to 40. She has remained consistent in her exercise regimen by making sure she gets in 10,000 steps a day. Her daily food intake has focused on healthy snacks and balanced meals, with plenty of fruits and vegetables. Instead of splurging on the fat filled, buttery foods she used to fall back on, she stuck with her favorite Jenny Craig snacks and desserts. Traditional recipes have been modified to be healthier while still curbing the cravings. She doesn’t feel deprived. She is empowered and her weight loss journey reached a height when she was featured on the cover of People magazine in a bikini looking quite good for a woman in her late 40’s.
