Special K Diet

Special K Diet
The Special K Diet claims to help people lose as much as 6 pounds during a two week period just by eating Special K with skim milk and fruit for two of their meals each day. Beyond this restriction, people can eat whatever they want for the rest of the day. Whatever they want kind of diets always intrigue us here at ezHealthyDiet.com because there’s no thought of eating for nutrition at all.

There are many people who can’t handle the monotony of some diet programs, so this one might not always be effective for everyone. However, for those who can live for two weeks on a bowl of cereal this diet will work for quick, easy weight loss. Just keep in mind that it’s not going to be an earth-shattering weight loss experience and it probably won’t be the most nutritious diet you can be on.

The Special K Diet was tested at Purdue University with 28 people, not a very large scientific study. Generally speaking, there were about 27% fewer calories consumed on average between the participants, and their fat intake was cut in half. The combination of these events likely led to the weight loss. Everyone knows that eating breakfast boosts metabolism and helps people to lose more weight because they are giving their bodies the healthy start in the morning that they need.

However, when you use that healthy breakfast as a meal replacement, it can do much more for the body it seems. Special K now has their own line of protein water, snack bars, and other items that are designed to allow people to snack healthier and lose more weight. But unfortunately we’ve been led to believe we need all this processed extra nonsense. Why do we all of a sudden after thousands of years, need protein water? What happened to just drinking 8 - 8 ounce glasses of filtered tap water every day?

The downfall of the Special K diet, first of all, is boredom. Cereal tastes great to some, but it can get old. Plus, the cereal is not high in fiber and isn’t whole grain, so fruits and vegetables are a must, as are whole grains. You cannot go without these staples because your body needs the fiber to keep things happy and maintained. By replacing two meals with cereal, you’re not learning good nutrition or future habits for eating like you would with some diet plans. Plus, once you resume regular eating, the pounds can quickly return. However, if you are only interested in losing weight it is a quick and easy way to weight loss that you don’t have to work hard for.

If you’re prepared to put the weight back on or start on a healthier path of eating once you have finished the Special K Diet, it might be something to consider. Every person has the diet that works for them, but Special K products can be expensive as well. If you are looking for an affordable diet it’s cheaper than meal plans, but will still put a nice dent in your grocery bill. Plus, by the time you’re done, you might never want to eat cereal again. Bottom line, the Special K diet is just designed for Kellogg’s to sell more cereal. It’s probably best to stay away from this fad diet.
