Ladies, are you always looking for more kitchen storage space? Having a well organized kitchen is paramount to maintaining sanity for many women. With that in mind, let me ask you something - have you ever considered using the space your dishwasher takes up to create more storage and thus a better organized kitchen?
Now I know this idea may strike fear in the hearts of many women…after all, the thought of giving up your dishwasher is up there with giving up space in your clothes closet. I can hear you now, “not in my life time!” you proclaim.
I know its hard for some of you to fathom, but there are many women out there, like myself, that would rather wash a dish by hand and let it drip dry in the dish drainer, than take the time to rinse, place and remove dishes from your dishwasher. Afterall, washing dishes is a form of therapy for some (ok, not for me, but for some, am I right?).
So if I’m right, why not kick that dishwasher to the curb and get yourself some nice, full extension, pull out shelves to hold your small appliances. In my case, I had been dreaming for many years about having additional storage built in place of my dishwasher…it only took about 12 years to convince my husband that having the storage space would add greater value to our lives, than how not having a dishwasher would affect the resale value of our house (should we ever decide to move!).
Finally, my dream came true. Last week my carpenter, Jim Patterson, pulled out that old roach trap of a dishwasher and replaced it with a new kitchen cabinet containing 2 full extension kitchen storage shelves. Now my Excalibur dehydrator has a home of it’s own (complete with a handy plug) on the top shelf of the new kitchen cabinet. The bottom shelf holds my small appliances: food processor, seed grinder, champion juicer and crock pot.
Thank you Jim and Alan for making my new storage idea and dream of having handy kitchen storage for all my small appliances come true.
