Granola is a real treat in our home. We eat this homemade granola recipe as a snack, occasional topping on fruit salad or on our 100% frozen fruit soft serve ice cream.
Though initially developed in the 1800’s and first referred to as granula, granola was popularized in the 60's, through the "back to nature" enthusiasts as a way to include more whole grains into the diet.
This healthy granola recipe is nutritious as it is full of protein, fibers and complex carbohydrates. Many of the granolas that are available at the grocery store are loaded with fats and refined sugars. Additionally, this granola recipe costs a fraction of what store brands cost.
