Green Smoothie Recipe – A Powerhouse of Energy

Green Smoothie Recipe
Green Smoothie Recipe

Surfing the internet recently looking for raw food recipe ideas, I came across an intriguing raw food concept. What I came across was Victoria Boutenko’s green, yes green, smoothie recipe.

The smoothie recipe she wrote about was as easy as pie. Well, actually, much easier than pie and much better for you! It included 4 ripe pears, 1 bunch of parsley and 1 big cup of water, blended well. Does it get any easier than that?

Victoria, better known as the matriarch of the Russian born Raw Family has been eating a 100% raw food diet since 1994. She and her family live raw foods: teaching, sharing and encouraging others with the health blessings they have discovered about raw foods.

In this brief article Victoria said, "More than half of all the food I’ve had in last several months have been green smoothies. I have so much more energy and clarity that I have removed green juices from my diet. (Juicing has been something that I’ve been doing regularly for years.) Green smoothies have numerous benefits for human health."

This was such a powerful statement by the raw food queen I could not ignore it. I had been feeling a bit tired recently and was looking for more ways to incorporate greens into my own 80% raw food diet so I thought this might be God’s answer to more energy.

I got started right away incorporating Victoria’s green smoothies into my diet. Well, with some modification. During March in Florida pears are not in season, so I decided to use 1 banana and 1 handful of parsley, along with a little water and ice. Boy are you going to be surprised at the results!

First of all, the taste combination of fruit with the greens was a very pleasant surprise. It was not only very pleasing to the eye, but very delectable to the palate. It also is one of the most truly refreshing drinks I have ever had. It sounds strange, but I felt all squeaky clean on the inside after drinking my green smoothie. I even danced a jig (really) because I was so excited about the new found green smoothie.

The best surprise of all was the energy I received from this green drink. I have had sustained energy all afternoon, long after drinking my green smoothie. It will be exciting trying other combinations of greens and fruit for green smoothies.

For more information about the health benefits of green smoothies, check out Victoria Boutenkos new book Green For Life. The book documents the results of the Roseburg study conducted by Victoria and Dr Fieber, which reveal the unique healing potential of green smoothies.

Since originally writing this article we have acquired a Vita Mix blender and have enjoyed smoothie making even more. The Vita Mix is a professional bar blender that renders all other blenders obsolete. Alan was not that much of a fan of green smoothies because he thought having parsley in a smoothie was like eating grass. But that has changed with the Vita Mix.

Other blenders didn't chop the greens fine enough, the Vita Mix liquefies the parsley and you don't even know it's there from the texture. You should seriously consider getting a Vita Mix if you are into making your own smoothies.

To your health!
