Green Drink Recipe - Easy And Fresh

Green Drink Recipe
If you love any green drink recipe, this one is for you. Recently I visited a new raw food restaurant in Indian Harbour Beach Florida (The Happy Healthy Human, 1869 South Patrick Drive) and was intrigued by a green drink recipe called Mean Greens. It was a mixture of a variety of nutritionally dense leafy greens, and herbs, mixed along with more watery fruits and vegetables like cucumber and celery and lemon juice, all pureed together and packed into a canning jar for easy consumption throughout the week. The concept is to have an easy way to get your greens in every day.

This morning, while weeding the garden beds and enjoying the gorgeous spring day in Florida the thought of Mean Greens came up because it dawned on me that left over from our winter garden were plenty of greens and herbs to make my own fresh Mean Green recipe. All around was an abundance of kale, carrot tops, dill, and parsley. After rinsing all those ingredients in the salad spinner, I added cucumber, celery and fresh lemon juice from the kitchen and processed them all together in the VitaMix. It was rather thick, so I ended up having to add a little filtered water to get the greens to blend properly.

The mixture made 1.5 pints which were then packed into sterile canning jars and stored in the refrigerator. I already tried my first green drink using the freshly made green recipe. Simply add 1 tablespoon of the mixture to a cup of filtered water and voila! You have an instant alkalizing, revitalizing, refreshing and energizing drink. Feel like a green smoothie?  Just add a tablespoon of the mixed green drink recipe, to one banana and some ice, and blend in your blender.

Of course if you don’t have the time or inclination to make your own Mean Green drink recipe just swing by “The Human” and pick up a jar for yourself. They are open daily except for Tuesdays and Sundays.

Be in health!
