Easy Fruit Salad Recipe
There is nothing simpler, more nutritious and exceptionally delicious than an easy fruit salad recipe. Fruit salad can be incorporated numerous ways into your meal plan. Use it for a side dish instead of a side vegetable or in addition to a vegetable. It also makes a wonderful breakfast dish or even a dessert. However you choose to eat it, fruit salad is a delight to all the senses.

The simplest fruit salad is made from a variety of fresh seasonal fruits. Use at least 3 types of fruit: Banana, melon, apple or pear make for a good base for a fruit salad dish. From there you can add berries, citrus or tropical fruit like papaya, mango, kiwi, or pineapple. Other fruits that go nicely together include peaches, plums, cantaloupes, watermelon or honeydew.

The secret for creating a successful fruit salad is to use nicely ripened fruit. If your fruit is not fully ripe, your salad will be disappointing in flavor, aroma and nutrition. Once you have selected your fruits for the salad, simply rinse and cut into small, bite size pieces. Gently stir the fruits together and let sit for 30 minutes to merge the flavors.

Serving sizes are approximately ½ cup for side dish portions and 1- 1 ½ cups for breakfast size portions and ¾ cup for dessert portions.

The combinations of fruits for easy fruit salad recipe are endless…get creative. To enhance your fruit salad sprinkle with raw granola, shredded coconut or diced soaked almonds.  Another way to dress up your fruit salad is to top with vegan cream sauce.  Simply puree 1 banana, add a tablespoon or less of water, and a pinch of nutmeg. Use the vegan cream sauce immediately.
