Colon Cleansing For Good Colon Health

Colon cleansing is important because your colon is your body's main elimination organ, cleaning out waste material and toxins from your body. If your colon is not working as it should, toxins are not being eliminated from your system and that can cause dis-ease in your body.

When your colon is healthy, food will move through it in 24 to 36 hours and you should be having 2 to 3 bowel movements per day, one for every meal consumed. If you are having less than frequent bowel movements, your system may be backing up and could be causing you problems.

If you do have an unhealthy colon, some of the signs of problems may be such things as frequent headaches, back aches, gas, indigestion, bad body odor, allergies, skin and acne problems, bad breath and more. Fatigue and a general sense of tiredness can also be signs of an unhealthy colon.

As always, the best way to improve the health of your colon is to improve your diet. Foods high in fiber such as beans, whole grains, carrots, apples and other are great for giving your body the fiber it needs. On the other hand, animal products such as chicken and especially red meat are hard for the body to digest and in most cases contain no fiber. Since animal products take a long time to digest, that means they stay in your system longer decreasing your chances for regular bowel movements and increasing your chances for colon issues.

Sometimes though just eating a diet high in fiber won't do the trick and clean you out. It is a good idea to do a colon cleanse on a regular basis to detox your body and remove excess waste material.
