The acid alkaline diet focuses on eating a lot of fresh fruit, vegetables, roots and tubers, nuts, and legumes. These foods are designed to help the body with more alkaline wich is a stronger environment against disease, and have been ever since our ancestors were eating them many centuries ago. The diet of years past was based on minimally processed plants and animal foods in very small amounts, but since agriculture, production facilities, and food science came along, that is no longer the focus.

Unfortunately, today’s diet is about fast, convenient foods, which are usually processed and terrible for your body. Almost all of the foods that are consumed will release either an acid or alkaline base into the blood, and this diet is focused on having the perfect balance of the two which is actually leaning towards the alkaline side.

When the body’s pH level is off, it will not be as healthy as it should be. This can result in poor health, weight gain, and other issues that could be prevented with a more natural and raw diet like the acid alkaline diet. This diet reverses the over-acidity in the body and detoxifies it so that it can start over. It creates an environment where the body can heal itself, and where disease has a hard time propagating and living. Figuring out which foods leave alkaline residue and which ones leave acid is the hard part, but the professionals will take care of that.

In order to follow the acid alkaline diet, all you need to know is that you need to consume fresh vegetables, salads, nuts and oils, plenty of raw foods, and 2-3 liters of clean, pure water every day. You can find a list of the foods and which side they fall on with a basic search online to learn more about the exact details of the diet. This should be 75%-80% of your diet. Acidic foods should only make up about 20%-25% of your diet, and are things like dairy, sweets, other processed products and some vegetables and fruits. However, watch out for pre-packaged foods and processed meals because these are just plain bad for you.

This diet can be confusing because of the need to understand the difference between alkalines and acids in the diet. The acid alkaline diet can be effective, as long as you can keep straight which foods are the best for your body. Take the time to do a little research because there are many variations and lists of approved foods for this diet on the internet. If you want to stay healthy, create an alkaline environment in your body and your body will treat you well.
