Healthy Diet News #010 -- New Recipes At ezHealthyDiet.com October 02, 2007 |
New Recipes At ezHealthyDiet.com Hi, We've been busy at ezHealthyDiet.com putting up a new section where you can submit your own recipes and putting up a few new recipes of our own. Since getting a Vita Mix blender and an Excalibur dehydrator we've been experimenting with all sorts of new creations. Our most favorite new recipe is one we cooked up, so to speak, in the dehydrator. With a dehydrator you can make all sorts of healthy things like crackers, sun dried tomatoes, banana chips, potato chips, corn chips, fruit leathers and more. So the most favorite thing we've come up with so far is a healthy corn chip recipe. One weakness many people on a raw diet have is thinking they need something crunchy with all the salads and veggies they eat. It has certainly been one of our weaknesses. We used to go through 2 bags of organic corn chips per week, but now with the new corn chip recipe we only go through one bag of chips every two weeks along with about a bags equivalent of healthy corn chips from the dehydrator. You might be thinking, what's wrong with a couple of bags of organic chips a week? Well, the raw lifestyle doesn't really allow for foods like chips because even though they are organic and don't have much of the chemicals most of the chips you find in the store do, they don't have all the nutrition you should be striving for when eating a raw diet. But the great thing about a food dehydrator is that you can have the crunch and the nutrition in your chips. Because of the way a dehydrator works, the food you make in it never gets to the temperature where enzymes, and thus nutrition, is destroyed. Check out our healthy corn chip recipe for a great alternative to store bought chips. We also came up with a veggie burger recipe made in the dehydrator as well that is absolutely delicious. And Jean invented what she calls California Miso Soup Recipe. It's called "California" because Jean uses nori, a Japanese seaweed in it. Nori is the same thing used in making California Rolls (fake sushi) that gives them their kind of fishy taste. We also want to thank a couple of our readers of ezHealthyDiet.com for their contributions to the new interactive healthy recipe section of the site. Thanks goes to Sharon of Palm Bay for adding a delicious smoothie recipe, the Green Coconut Smoothie. And thanks also goes out to Joan of Chicago for her delicious Peach Popsicle recipe.
